The next bible study session will begin on May 5, 2014. The study will be Hebrews: The Nearness of King Jesus by Lisa Harper. The session will be 6 weeks long taking us into the middle of June.
I have always enjoyed the book of Hebrews and have found great encouragement among its pages. I love reading Hebrews 11 about the Old Testament people who are commended for their faith. And many times, I’ve prayed a paraphrase of Hebrews 4:16.
“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
Hebrews was a letter written to scattered Christians who were being persecuted during the early days of Christianity and Hebrews is a letter written to us who also desperately need to remember that Jesus is the answer for hope and encouragement in our scattered lives. As Hebrews 4:12 states,
“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
God’s word is living and active and will speak to our situations and lives today. I can’t wait to begin! How about you?
